Gaithersburg resident Davon Lopez, 30, and 25-year-old Anthony Tyrone Slater, Jr., of Germantown, are both facing multiple charges following an assault at the transit center earlier this week.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, officers from multiple agencies were called to the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg, where there was a reported robbery in progress.
A witness described two men assaulting another man and provided a description of their clothing, and responding officers found the victim suffering with "severe facial injuries" before he was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Investigators say that detectives reviewed video footage from nearby surveillance cameras, which showed one suspect, later identified as Lopez, striking the victim multiple times and kicking him in the head after he fell to the ground.
Lopez then searched through his victim's pockets.

When the victim attempted to run away, Lopez chased him and punched him again, causing him to fall, police say. Slater then stomped on him while he was on the ground.
Officers searching the area spotted two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions walking toward a laundromat on Lost Knife Road. Additional officers responded, and the two were taken into custody as they tried to leave the store.
Lopez and Slater were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they were charged with:
- Robbery;
- First- and second-degree assault;
- Reckless endangerment.
Both are being held without bond.
